One For All

Photography by Shin
(Japan)

Winners' comments(translated):
I am truly happy my work received the prestigious Grand Prix award among the many wonderful entries.
I named this work "One For All." By nature, Kemono, or beasts, live in the great outdoors.
Signa, the model for this work, is a hero.
I entered this piece because I felt that its many contradictions directly convey JFPC2024's theme "Spirit," especially the determination emanating from Signa's back, the harshness of nature that seems to shake his resolve, and the fluttering red scarf representing a threatening headwind.
Japan is a small but beautiful country with four distinct seasons, all having their own colors, in other words, different scents, skies, winds, and trees.
As for my future plans, I will continue devoting myself as an expressive photographer, aiming to show many more people the extreme colors of Japan and the mysterious power of speech residing within photography.
Lastly, allow me to express my gratitude to not only the model Signa but also the JFPC Executive Committee, the JMoF Executive Committee, and the entirety of the furry fandom.
It is thanks to all of you that I have been able to spend such wonderful, amazing, and fulfilling days in this world. I am truly happy. Thank you very much!

Jury Comments(Photographer / Shinji Hanino)(translated):
Congratulations on winning the Grand Prix.
This work's title really matches its content.
In this work, although we can only see the character's back, we can sense a firm will from him.
I had the impression of a "hero" we could trust anything with.

Winners' comments(translated):
I am overjoyed to receive such a prestigious award in the competition I have always wanted to participate in, not to mention doing so as a member of the workshop I have always admired.
When I welcomed May, I decided to enjoy fashion.
Seeing many people from the same workshop win awards at the JFPC made me want to maximize this opportunity and leave some sort of legacy behind, driving me to take on that challenge.
I entered this photo not only for fashion but also to show May's appeal and how amazing it is to enjoy oneself to the fullest in a fursuit.
I also named it "Invitation" in hopes of inviting people with even the slightest bit of interest to enter this world.
Again, I would like to express my overflowing happiness at being chosen for this award.
I would also like to thank our photographer, Makina, and everyone who voted for me.

Jury Comments(Photographer / Shinji Hanino)(translated):
Congratulations on your award.
The room's atmosphere and your clothes perfectly matched this work.
The uniformity of color throughout the photo also adds to its completeness.
It's a good piece that shows how important location and costume selection are when creating art.

Show your dancing spirit!

Winners' comments(translated):
I am truly honored to receive this prestigious award.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone involved in the judging process.
I am very happy that my fascination with my beloved Kemono and photography paid off in this award.
This photo was taken at our regular offline meetup event rather than at a photography studio.
I will continue devoting myself to this craft, reminding myself that one can always take expressive and attractive pictures at any time.
Thank you very much!

Jury Comments(Photographer / Shinji Hanino)(translated):
Congratulations on your award.
Looking at this piece gave me the impression of watching the moment music comes out of nowhere just as the dance finishes.
You can almost hear the intense breathing.
This work has an energy that breaks through the limitations of the photographic medium.

Where sound is born

Photography by Makina
(Japan)

Winners' comments(translated):
Thank you very much for choosing me for the Best Lighting Award.
This year's exhibition theme is "Spirit," so I interpreted it in the context of will and mentality.
I wanted this photo to be a simple expression of these concepts, portraying a space where light can enter, unified by the color white.
Here, even the piano is white.
Through this photo, I aimed to express the spirit of tackling music head-on, with the pianist City-Run as the model.
Thank you, City-Run, for your cooperation, and thank you, everyone, for viewing my work.

Jury Comments(Photographer / Shinji Hanino)(translated):
Congratulations on your award.
It might appear too bright and hazy at first glance, but I can feel that the clean and neat atmosphere of the place is well expressed.
The piano's melody is probably the only sound in this space.
This piece is a good example of how adjusting brightness can completely change the work's impression.

Spirit's Revenge

Photography by Kiba Wolf
(United States of America)

Winners' comments:
Our theme of "Spirit" was inspired by the movie Ghostbusters.
My assistant BaldricSheep and I spent 4 days building the lighting and photography set.
We wanted to give our spirit an ethereal look that also included some elements of a Japanese-style demonic fox.
We are happy to share the work that we have created for everyone to see.
Thank you very much!

Jury Comments(Photographer / Shinji Hanino)(translated):
Congratulations on your award.
The oblique composition tends to be more common among novice photographers, but it is a great way to show dynamism.
In this piece, I could feel the dynamism of the moment the model was startled and fell off the chair.
I would recommend this composition to those having trouble with what composition to try.

Winners' comments:
Without relying on software synthesis, capturing photos like this boils down to mastering light control.
It's pretty cool to play with the line between reality and illusion in these shots.
I am delighted that my photos have received positive feedback from everyone.
Thank you all, and Thanks again to JFPC and JMoF for continuing this competition.
It is a great honor to receive this award.
