Artelier of Wolf

Photography by Pixer
(Republic of Korea)

Winners' comments:
I was so surprised when I informed about winning Grand Prix.
It was my first time of entry and I didn't expected.
There're so much thanks to many people.
First, I'd like to appreciate Hangaebi, the model, and Aoi, the supporter, and Maria, the maker of fursuit.
And also thanks to JFPC executive committee for running this amazing content for years.

This time of theme "HOME" is can be interpret with lots of meanings.
Some recognize as cozy one, and some recognize as family.
The important thing is, HOME is eventually going whoever we are, and be always welcomed.
I wish every countries furry fandom feels HOME to each other.
If someone exhausted from outside world, the HOME will be welcome and cares about it.

There're so many great photographers in South Korea, even better than me.
I wish all furry fandom people visit South Korea, and I wish making precious memory at Korea.
This year FurryJOA held in South Korea for second time.
I hope everyone see there and also be happy with furries at 2023.
Thank you again everyfurries!
And Thank you again for this amazing award!

Jury Comments(IMAGESTUDIO Noise / Photographer / Shinji Hanino):
It is often said that less is more in photography, but this entry challenges that by taking advantage of the large amount of information to create a more cluttered feeling.
The enjoyment of spending time in one's own room, surrounded by one's favorite things, is conveyed so effectively in this entry.
That energy was the strongest of all the entries in this competition.

tone of summer

Photography by Elleth
(Japan)

Winners' comments(translated):
Thank you very much for selecting my work for this prestigious award.

The topic for this year's contest was also very challenging, and I had to think very hard about it.
However, I think it was a good opportunity to go back to our foundation.
Our "HOME" is here, which is the start of everything.
The topic was an encouragement that supported our work to transcend into a piece filled with a lot of good Japanese culture.
Also, as a Kemono who enjoys fashion, I am delighted to have been selected for this award.

I feel that this award could be won because the model and the photographer both constantly cherished the inspiration of each other.
With this feeling in our hearts, the two of us will continue to create works together.
Thank you very much.

Jury Comments(IMAGESTUDIO Noise / Photographer / Shinji Hanino):
The traditional Japanese yukata creates a genuine sense of a summer home in Japan.
Perhaps they are going to go out to see fireworks?
Just looking at the photo gives the impression that something fun and exciting is coming up.
The word fashion can be interpreted in many different ways, but even dressing up lightly as in this entry can look great.

On the way home

Photography by EilianParker
(Taiwan)

Winners' comments:
In Taipei, 101 is a very prominent landmark, but the streets are a little bit run down.

Street food has often been an easy dining option for Taiwanese, but now it's gradually being replaced by a takeaway.

I love that photos can express the passage of time, that while they are static, they predict coherent movement and come to life.

It is often said that photography is subtraction, but I gave up the depth of field and chose to add more scenery to the photo, showing the life scene of Taiwan at night.
I like the result very much.

I am so glad that I could receive the award.

Jury Comments(IMAGESTUDIO Noise / Photographer / Shinji Hanino):
I felt as if I had finally returned to the town where I live.
The photograph conveys a familiar hustle and bustle, but one that is so very different from that of the city.
I am sure that the person must have felt solace upon arriving in their hometown.
That is the impression I get from this entry.

Morning

Photography by EilianParker
(Taiwan)

Winners' comments:
On a sunny morning, the sun shines softly into the house, and I feel this leisure with the cat.

The windows are made of clear and frosted glass, making the sunlight soft and firm.
I was amazed by the architectural ingenuity in the lighting scheme of the old house.

Frosted glass protects privacy, and you can see out of the window when you stand up.
In modern times dark glass is used to achieve the same function, but I prefer the light that comes in the old way.

Photography allows me to see more nuances.

Thank you again for the award.

Jury Comments(IMAGESTUDIO Noise / Photographer / Shinji Hanino):
This entry has soft natural light circulating throughout the room, creating the feeling of a crisp morning.
You can almost hear the birds chirping outside the window.
Using natural light requires a more advanced technique than using lighting equipment, but this entry is a good example of how it can be used effectively.

Leave one's native place

Photography by EilianParker
(Taiwan)

Winners' comments:
Using the concentration of lines to guide the line of sight, focusing on the building in the center of the picture, the cool night makes the warm saber-toothed tiger more conspicuous, and the izakaya expresses the image of daily life.

I used a manual lens to take this photo, the Sun Stars of this lens are stunning, such as those street lights.
Although it is not as convenient and fast as the automatic lens, it's not bad to slow down.

Thank you very much for the award again.

Jury Comments(IMAGESTUDIO Noise / Photographer / Shinji Hanino):
This entry is enhanced by the stable composition with the tower in the center, together with the single road leading to the tower.
The backs of the characters convey a sense of loneliness and melancholy as they depart from their hometown.
When we get used to using digital cameras, we tend to take pictures where only one part of the image is in focus, but this entry is a good example where the entire composition is in focus.

Winners' comments:
I'm happy to know that my work is liked and it will encourage me to continue to create and enjoy taking pictures in the future.

To be honest, I had an injury last year, so I didn't take pictures for a while.
I deeply feel the importance of health, only a strong body can carry heavier equipment.
Until now, COVID-19 still going on, wish you all stay healthy too.

Thanks again to JFPC and JMoF for continuing this competition to keep furry photography becoming an art field.

Special thanks to the model in the photo, the warmth brought by furries are like giving me another home.

It is a great honor to receive this award.
